Red Light Cameras defy logic in sharp duds, big hair, rock-n-roll attitude, and a...wedding dress.
The most badass wedding dress to ever grace the rock and roll stage.
New Mexico’s music scene is an incomprehensible display of logic for even the most esteemed data cruncher to fully admit. If everyone understood it, the industry could perhaps market to the target audience, and theoretically grow a fan base commensurate with the artists’ level of commitment, visibility, and authenticity.
Or maybe we could simply observe the masses who continually show up over a 12-month period to support live music.
I did.
To have any sort of consistent fan base is to have performed a miracle, in one of the poorest, and surprisingly underreported sparse population bases in the nation. The miracles Red Light Cameras pulled off in 2023 defy logic, but they have a system and it’s most noteworthy and deserves to be shared with the world as Amanda Machon and Barney Fashion Show (Lopez) pulled off two of the most celebrated victories in New Mexico. Both events put our state in a much-needed cultural amalgamation of empowered equality and human uplifting through acceptance and celebration of all life. All the band members are a beacon both on stage and off, consistently building a positive and inclusive community of people who want to celebrate their own lives with some rowdy and edgy pop rock that goes hard as nails here in the thin, cold air. Their music is about as gritty as pop rock can get and it’s a blast to dance to it while celebrating life, says the massive fan base that shows up anywhere RLC lands.
Red Light Cameras have inspired many musicians (I’ve interviewed several) and it’s just as much fun to watch Amanda light up when she learns of another musician she inspired as it is to see Barney produce the most celebrated entertainment feature our state has to offer. They all go hard to ensure New Mexico gets the appropriate light it deserves while being authentic and transparent to a diverse cultural base. Their work illuminates an ominous and dull dystopian canvas with color, style, beauty, and hard-rock attitude that is their energizing sound.
To build community, such as Red Light Cameras have with observable consistency in 2023, the work must be seen by all demographics. No filter. The band supports several high-profile charity events every year and often are the main draw for contributing audiences; RLC makes the show happen. All that while writing, gigging, getting married (x2) and being all fab huh, while filming a Netflix special and producing Night of the Living Cover Bands. They work hard and they party harder and Friday night’s show was a damn good way to end 2023 y’
all. Everyone in the Rio Grande valley could feel the electric excitement zapping through the air. I sure did.
Let’s have a little more for the dress, shall we? One of the most bomb wedding dresses ever to grace a rock stage. Much love, y’all.
